ArcelorMittal Poland, a subsidiary of Luxembourg-based steel producer ArcelorMittal, has announced that it has reduced its dust and carbon emissions by 90 percent and 42 percent, respectively, over the last 20 years. The reductions were thanks to the PLN 10.5 billion ($2.62 billion) investment over the last two decades.

In recent years, the company has invested about PLN 700 million ($174.79 million) in environmental protection at the steel plant in Dąbrowa Górnicza. With the given investment, the efficiency of the dust removal system has increased threefold, the sinter plant has reduced dust emissions from two belts by more than six times, and the heat and power plant has reduced dust emissions by over 86 percent, nitrogen oxides by 35 percent, and sulfur dioxides by 66 percent.

ArcelorMittal Group intends to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 with a goal for 35 percent carbon reduction at European plants by 2030 compared to 2018.
