Argentinian rebar sales improve in May along with civil construction activity

According to Argentina’s Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC), domestic sales of rebar increased 2.2 percent in May, year-on-year, and 2.5 percent, month-on-month. Despite the increases, shipments of the product in the first five years of 2015 declined 4.1 percent, year-on-year.

Meanwhile, not-seasonally adjusted data from INDEC show activity in civil construction increased 3.8 percent in May, year-on-year. Seasonally adjusted data rose 7.2 percent in May, year-on-year.

According to a research by INDEC, 66.7 percent of the private companies it interviewed said the industry’s activity won’t change in June in respect to the month prior, while 14.3 percent believe the industrial activity in the segment will decline.
