Australia’s Coronado to soon begin production at Mammoth underground coal mine

Monday, 16 December 2024 12:25:00 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Australia-based high-quality metallurgical coal producer Coronado Global Resources has announced that it has received all regulatory approvals necessary to begin operations at its Mammoth underground metallurgical coal mine at its Curragh mining complex. This will be the first time the company will engage in underground mining in Australia.

Located in the Bowen Basin in the state of Queensland, the operations at Mammoth will begin on December 19, supporting Coronado’s operations at Curragh. Once fully operational, the mine’s output will reach 1.5-2 million mt per year. As a result, Coronado will be able to increase its coal production and lower its costs.
