Baosteel hikes prices for Q3

SteelOrbis Shanghai Shanghai based Baosteel announced its third quarter price list on May 23. The details are as follows. Based on the price lists for May and June, the ex-factory prices of common carbon hot rolled products increased RMB 300/mt ($37). So, the price of 2.75-3.0 mm x 1,000-1,050 mm x C (SPHC) became RMB 3,942/mt ($492), and that of 3.11-5.99 mm x 1,000 – 1,050 mm x C (SS400) became RMB 3,792/mt ($473). Common carbon cold rolled product prices increased RMB 300/mt ($37). Now the ex-factory price of DC01 1.0 mm x 1,250 mm x C became RMB 4,896/mt ($610), and that of SPCC 1.0 x 1,250 x C became RMB 4,796/mt ($598). Hot rolled pickled and oiled product prices increased RMB 200/mt ($25). So, the price of 2.75 mm x 1,250 mm x C reached RMB 4,097/mt ($511). Based on wide and thick plate prices for June, the July prices increased around RMB 200-400/mt ($25-50). Broken down specifically, the price of structural steel increased RMB 200/mt ($25). Now the price of 15.1-50 mm wide and 2 to 4 meters long Q235 is RMB 3,700/mt ($461). The prices of shipbuilding plates (A, B, D, E) are up RMB 300/mt ($37). The price of B plates with thicknesses ranging from 10.1 mm to 15 mm are RMB 3,900/mt ($486). The prices of high-strength shipbuilding plates such as AH32, DH32, EH32, AH36, DH36 and EH36 are up RMB400/mt ($50). The price of 10.1-15 mm thick AH32 is at RMB 4,080/mt ($509), and that of AH36 is at RMB 4,170/mt ($520). The prices of other products retain the levels of June. The ex-factory price of hot dip galvanized products increased RMB 400/mt ($50). After the adjustment, the price level for 0.5 x 1,250 x C (DC51D+Z) reached RMB 5,227/mt ($652), that of 1.0 x 1,250 x C (DC51D+Z) reached RMB 4,927/mt ($614). The ex-factory price of aluminum plating products as well as the galvanized products are up RMB 300/mt ($37). After the price hike, the new price for 0.5 x 1,000 x C (DC51D+AZ) increased to RMB 6,147/mt ($766) and that of 1.0 x 1,000 x C (DC51D+AZ) to RMB 5,877/mt ($733). The price of electro-galvanized products went up RMB 200/mt ($25). Now the price of 0.5 x 1,250 x C (SECC) became RMB 6,877/mt ($857), and that of 1.0 x 1,250 x C (SECC) became RMB 6,477/mt ($808). Based on June prices, the price of color coated products for July went up RMB 400/mt ($50). After that, the new price of 0.5 x 1,000 x C (TDC51D) is RMB 6,337/mt ($790). The electrical steel prices increased RMB 200/mt ($25). At present, the new price level for 0.5 x 1,100 x C (B50A800) is RMB 4,780/mt ($596). Based on second quarter, wire rod prices increased RMB 200-300/mt ($25-37). The prices of cold heading steel increased RMB 200/mt. The price of 6.5 mm SCM435 reached RMB 5,206/mt ($649). The price of SWRH82B and SWRH82B-1 is up RMB 300/mt ($37). After the price adjustments, the price of 6.5 mm SWRH82B-1 increased RMB 3,728/mt ($465). The price of low carbon wire rod increased RMB 200/mt ($25). The new price of 6.5 mm SWRM8 is RMB 3,443/mt ($429). Prices of semi finished steel also saw increases ranging from RMB 200-500/mt ($25-62). Baosteel's announcement of new price list is driving up the market prices, especially for HRC prices. In Shanghai, the price of HRC went up by RMB 80/mt ($10), and that in Tianjin and Lecong see an increase of RMB 30-50/mt ($4-6). However, the business activity is not very brisk. The increasing market prices may start going down after the upcoming export tax rebate policy is announced.
