Shanghai-based Chinese special steel manufacturer Baosteel Special Material Co., a subsidiary of Shanghai-based Chinese steelmaker Baoshan Iron and Steel Co. Ltd (Baosteel), has finally delivered its first consignment of ultra-supercritical boiler tubes after over 10 years of technological development work, as reported by Baosteel on February 27. Accordingly, the consignment in question, totaling approximately 600 mt and consisting of S31042 and S31042 high-strength austenitic stainless steels, has been delivered to a power station in Xinjiang autonomous region and prepared for installation.

Baosteel stated that, amid the high safety requirements of boiler manufacturers, the successful delivery of these products indicates that Chinese steelmakers have the ability to produce such materials by themselves in the future, providing strong support for China’s national energy strategy and for energy safety.
