Baosteel Zhanjiang breaks ground for 4,200 mm thick plate plant

Chinese steel giant Baosteel Group has announced that the groundbreaking ceremony for the 4,200 mm thick plate plant at its Zhanjiang steel base project, i.e., Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron and Steel Co., was held on Donghai Island, Zhanjiang, Guangdong on March 1.
 
The 4,200 mm plate plant is one of the key parts of the Zhanjiang steel base project. Its annual production capacity will be 1.2 million mt in the first phase and will be upgraded to 1.6 million mt in the second phase. The construction period for the overall 4,200 mm plate plant is expected to be 28 months.
