Brazil's national statistics agency (IBGE) has announced that in July this year industrial production in the country increased 0.1 percent compared to June, but was down 6.6 percent from July last year. In June, industrial output in Brazil increased by 1.1 percent month on month.
In the first seven months of this year, industrial production in Brazil was down by 8.7 percent on year-on-year basis.
According to the announcement, in the seventh month of this year the production of intermediate goods manufacturers in Brazil increased by 1.6 percent and output of capital goods fell by 2.7 percent, output of consumer goods narrowed by one percent, production of durable consumer goods moved up by 3.3 percent and output of semi-durable and non-durable consumer goods dropped by 1.9 percent, all compared to the previous month.
In July of the current year, Brazil's metal products output decreased by 13.4 percent, machine and equipment output declined by 13.3 percent and output of motor vehicles and trailers moved down by 13.8 percent, all on year-on-year basis. In the January-July of this year, Brazil's metal products output decreased by 13.5 percent, machine and equipment output declined by 15.6 percent and output of motor vehicles and trailers diminished by 20.2 percent, all compared to the same period of 2015.
