Brazil's national statistics agency (IBGE) has reported that in February this year industrial production in the largest Latin American country increased by 0.5 percent compared to January, recording a rise for the second consecutive month, while it fell by 0.4 percent from February 2019, declining for the fourth consecutive month year on year.
In the January-February period of this year, industrial production in Brazil was down by 0.6 percent on year-on-year basis.
According to the announcement, in February this year the production of intermediate goods manufacturers in Brazil rose by 0.5 percent, output of capital goods increased by 1.2 percent, while output of consumer goods decreased by 0.6 percent, production of durable consumer goods fell by 0.7 percent and output of semi-durable and non-durable consumer goods declined by 0.2 percent, all compared to the previous month.
In February this year, Brazil's metal products output increased by 1.2 percent and output of motor vehicles, trailers and bodies was down by 9.3 percent and machine and equipment declined by 3.8 percent, all on year-on-year basis. In the January-February period of the current year, Brazil's motor vehicles, trailers and bodies output decreased by 5.4 percent compared to the same period of 2019.
