Brazil's national statistics agency (IBGE) has announced that in February this year industrial production in the country decreased by 2.5 percent compared to January, but was down 9.8 percent from February last year. In January, industrial output in Brazil had increased by 0.4 percent month on month.
In the January-February period of this year, industrial production in Brazil was down by 11.8 percent on year-on-year basis.
According to the announcement, in the second month of this year the production of intermediate goods manufacturers in Brazil decreased by two percent and output of capital goods rose by 0.3 percent, output of consumer goods declined by 3.2 percent, production of durable consumer goods moved down by 5.3 percent and output of semi-durable and non-durable consumer goods decreased by 0.6 percent, all compared to the previous month.
In February of the current year, Brazil's metal products output decreased by 12.7 percent, machine and equipment output declined by 27.9 percent and output of motor vehicles and trailers moved down by 29.1 percent, all on year-on-year basis. In the January-February period of this year, Brazil's metal products output decreased by 14 percent and machine and equipment output declined by 26.8 percent and output of motor vehicles and trailers diminished by 30.1 percent, all compared to the same period of 2015.
