Brazil's national statistics agency (IBGE) has reported that in August this year industrial production in the largest Latin American country decreased by 0.3 percent compared to July, recording the second negative rate in a row and was up by two percent from August 2017.
In the January-August period of this year, industrial production in Brazil was up by 2.5 percent on year-on-year basis.
According to the announcement, in August this year the production of intermediate goods manufacturers in Brazil fell by 2.1 percent, output of capital goods increased by 5.3 percent, output of consumer goods was up by 0.2 percent, production of durable consumer goods rose by 1.2 percent and output of semi-durable and non-durable consumer goods fell by 0.6 percent, all compared to the previous month.
In August this year, Brazil's metal products output increased by five percent and output of motor vehicles, trailers and bodies was up by 8.7 percent, all on year-on-year basis. In the January-August period of 2018, Brazil's machine and equipment output rose by 5.3 percent, metal products output moved up by 5.1 percent and output of motor vehicles, trailers and bodies increased by 27.9 percent, all compared to the same period of 2017.
