CAP Acero appeals AD duty decision on Chinese steel grinding rods

Thursday, 17 August 2017 21:05:47 (GMT+3)   |   Sao Paulo

Chilean steelmaker CAP Acero has appealed a decision by the country’s price distortion commission, CNDP, that declined to apply antidumping (AD) duties over the imports of Chinese steel grinding rods.

The product that was subject to the analysis falls under the Chilean HTS code 7228.3000. CAP Acero is Chile’s only producer of the product.

CAP Acero submitted a request in early July to revert CNDP’s decision.  However, an August document filing made it clear the local producer did not convince CNDP to change its decision. In the document, CNDP argued CAP Acero did not present any new arguments to the discussion.

In its decision to not recommend AD duties over the Chinese imports of steel grinding rods, CNDP noted there was a low level of imports of the product in 2016 and as well as the accumulative period of January to May this year.
