China’s coke imports fall by 64 percent in H1

In the January-June period of the current year, China’s metallurgical coke imports amounted to 46,000 mt, down 64.0 percent year on year.

In the given period, Russia was China’s major source of coke imports, with China importing 38,000 mt of coke from Russia, accounting for 82.6 percent of the total import volume. Mongolia was the second largest source of coke imports, with 7,000 mt, accounting for 15.2 percent of the total import volume.

In the first six months this year, China exported 4.869 million mt of coke, up 20.2 percent year on year. In June alone, China exported 870,000 mt of coke, increasing by 30 percent year on year.
