China’s foreign trade value down 11.3 percent in Q1

In March this year, China’s total foreign trade value amounted to $291.77 billion, indicating a month-on-month increase of 32.9 percent and a year-on-year increase of 2.0 percent, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on April 13. In the given month, the total value of China’s exports amounted to $160.813 billion, up 27.6 percent month on month and increasing by 11.5 percent year on year, while Chinese imports totaled $130.956 billion in value, up 40.0 percent month on month and declining by 7.6 percent year on year, resulting in a trade surplus of $29.857 billion.

In the January-March period of the current year, China’s total foreign trade value amounted to $802.136 billion, down 11.3 percent year on year, while the total value of China’s exports and imports amounted to $463.931 billion and $338.205 billion, down 9.6 percent and declining by 13.5 percent year on year, respectively, resulting in a trade surplus of $125.726 billion in the given period
