China’s HRC imports increase 140 percent in H1 2009

China's HR coil export volume in June stood at 100,600 mt, down 904,100 mt or 89.98 percent year on year, totaling a value of $72 million, down $815 million or 91.92 percent compared with the same period last year. The average export price was $712.25/mt. Total January-June HR coil exports reached 749,700 mt, down 3.987 million mt or 84.71 percent, amounting to a value of $563 million, down $3.168 billion or 84.91 percent year on year.

HR coil imports in June came to 470,800 mt, up 313,500 mt or 199.24 percent year on year, totaling a value of $282 million, up $101 million or 56.12 percent compared with the same period last year. The average HR coil import price was $599.42/mt. Total HR coil imports in the January-June period reached 2.3876 million mt, up 1.394 million mt or 140.3 percent, amounting to $1.382 billion in value, up $308 million or 28.72 percent year on year.
