China’s steel plate imports down 19.4 percent in January

In Jauary this year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate, and steel pipes and hollow sections amounted to 900,000 mt, 20,000 mt, 770,000 mt, and 30,000 mt, down 2.1 percent, 60.1 percent, 19.4 percent, and 20.9 percent, respectively, year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities. 

In January this year, China imported 930,000 mt of finished steel, down 19.6 percent year on year, as previously announced by Chinese customs.
