China’s steel plate imports rise by 6.1 percent in August

In August this year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate, and steel pipes and hollow sections amounted to 100,000 mt, 30,000 mt, 940,000 mt, and 30,000 mt, down 21.1 percent, up 50.7 percent, up 6.1 percent and rising by 29.6 percent, respectively, year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities.
 
In the January-August period of the current year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate, and steel pipes and hollow sections amounted to 780,000 mt, 210,000 mt, 7.33 million mt, and 250,000 mt, up 10.3 percent, down 18.6 percent, down 0.4 percent and decreasing by 1.5 percent, respectively, year on year.
