During an official trip to Shanghai, China, the governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, announced that the auto parts company Ningbo Tuopu Group will invest $700 million in the expansion of its plant in the northern city of Salinas Victoria.

Tuopu will need a 40-hectare property for its new facilities where it will generate 10,000 jobs, the governor said in a video broadcast on social networks.

The city of Salinas Victoria is located 22 miles north of the state capital, Monterrey, and 147 miles southwest of the border city of Laredo, Texas.

According to Tuopu's website, it produces automotive chassis systems, equipment systems, intelligent driving systems, among other auto parts. Additionally, the new Mexican facilities will include a technology laboratory.

The governor said that the investment of the Chinese company, which is listed on the Shanghai stock exchange, will be one of the main suppliers of the new Tesla auto plant, which will be located in the city of Santa Catarina, 33 miles from Salinas Victoria.
