During the first two months of 2007, China's steel production accelerated its steps, seeing a considerable year-on-year growth in all major products output. Crude steel output grew by 23.1 percent, up 6.3 percentage points compared with the same period last year.
The latest data shows that in Jan-Feb period, China's crude steel output totaled 74.254 million mt, up 13.944 million mt or 23.1 percent year on year. The daily production reached 1.2585 million mt, up 30,100 mt/day compared with December 2006.
Pig iron output totaled 70.07 million mt, up 12.15 million mt or 21 percent. The growth was 1.1 percentage points higher year on year. The daily production reached 1.1876 million mt, up 6,000 mt/day compared with December 2006.
Finished steel output totaled 79.008 million mt, up 16.01 million mt or 25.4 percent. The growth was 4.1 percentage points higher year on year. The daily production reached 1.3391 million mt, down 77,500 mt/day compared with December 2006.

From January to February, China's iron ore output stood at 83.664 million mt, up 26.74 million mt or 47 percent year on year.
Coke output totaled 46.927 million mt, up 8.873 million mt or 23.3 percent.
Ferroalloy output totaled 2.228 million mt, up 639,000 mt or 40.2 percent.
Considering the factors of imports and exports, the crude steel supply was 66.824 million mt in domestic market in the first two months, up 12.5 percent year on year. The exports accounted for 13.9 percent of the total crude steel production.
