Colombian iron and steel exports down 29.1 percent in January-March

In the first three months of 2016, Colombia exported 31,718 mt of ferronickel, down 13.6 percent, with a value of $69.6 million, decreasing by 54.2 percent, both year on year, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). In March this year, the country's ferronickel exports amounted to 13,382 mt, falling by 34.1 percent, while the revenue from these exports was $30.6 million, down 62.2 percent, both compared to March last year.
 
In the January-March period of this year, Colombia's iron and steel export volume totaled 40,193 mt, down 29.1 percent, with a value of $81.9 million, declining by 54.9 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In March this year, Colombian iron and steel exports amounted to 17,347 mt, decreasing by 30.5 percent, and were worth $35.7 million, down 59.4 percent, both compared to the same month of 2015.
