EMR UK makes temporary changes in operation

In a statement yesterday, March 25, UK-based scrap supplier EMR UK has announced some temporary changes in its operations with the aim to protect their staff and suppliers from the Covid-19 coronavirus.

As of Tuesday, 6 pm, March 24, EMR UK will “no longer be able to accept scrap vehicles that require any form of depollution, inspection or the issue of a Certificate of Destruction from any source”, the statement said, including both the general public and business accounts.

On the other hand, EMR will “continue to accept depolluted car shells from business accounts if they can be delivered and offloaded in the same way as the new procedures that we have put in place for other bulk loads.”

As SteelOrbis has reported yesterday, SIMS UK has taken similar steps and announced that it has stopped accepting scrap from third parties as of the evening of March 24, in accordance with the UK government’s decision to impose a three week-long lockdown due to the spread of the coronavirus in the region. In its official statement, SIM announced that it “remains committed to providing services necessary for the business continuity of critical manufacturing sectors.”
