In September this year, new car registrations totaled 1,455,180 units in the European Union (EU), with an increase of 7.2 percent year on year, according to the latest figures issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).
In September, Italy (+17.4%), Spain (+13.9%) and Germany (9.4%), were the major EU markets which recorded increases in new car registrations on year-on-year basis, followed by France (+2.5%) and the UK (+1.6%) which also performed better than in September 2015.
Meanwhile, in the January-September period new passenger car registrations in the EU increased to 11,243,263 units, up eight percent year on year. In this period, Italy saw an increase of 17.4 percent and Spain saw an increase of 11.5 percent, while new passenger car registrations in Germany rose by 6.1 percent, with registrations in France rising by 5.7 percent and with registrations in the UK up 2.6 percent, all year-on-year basis.
