In November this year, Italy’s domestic crude steel production showed a decline following the slight upturn recorded in October. According to Federacciai, the Italian federation of steel companies, production fell by 4.4 percent year on year, totaling 1.8 million mt. During the January-November period, total production reached 18.8 million mt, reflecting a 4.7 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2023.

In November, Italy’s production of long products decreased by 5 percent year on year to 1.1 million mt, bringing the total for the first 11 months to 11 million mt, unchanged compared to the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, Italian flat steel output saw a steeper decline, dropping by 12.2 percent year on year to 747,000 mt. This brought the January-November flat steel output down by 10.6 percent year on year, to a total of 8 million mt.
