According to the statistics released by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry, in January this year France's basic steel product and ferroalloy exports amounted to a value of €888.86 million, increasing by 11.78 percent year on year.
Steel and ferroalloys ranked seventh in January among the most exported products of the country.
During the month in question, France exported €170 million of steel pipes and tubes - down 28.3 percent, €34.7 million of cold rolled steel bars - up 13.6 percent, €38.4 million of cold rolled steel strip - down 19.3 percent, €34.7 million of cold drawn wire - up 15.7 percent, €43.2 million of metal structures and parts - down 2.9 percent, all compared to January 2011.
Meanwhile, in January this year France's basic steel product and ferroalloy imports totaled €752.1 million, down 11.3 percent year on year.
During the given month, France imported €144 million of steel pipes and tubes - remaining unchanged, €43 million of cold rolled steel bars - up 17.86 percent, €47.6 million of cold rolled steel strip - down 15.74 percent, €36.6 million of cold drawn wire - up six percent, and €105.2 million of metal structures and parts - up 9.3 percent, all compared to the previous year.
