EU import quotas for some products exceeded as Sept 30 approaches

As the end of the quota period between July 1 and September 30 approaches, EU import quotas for some steel products allocated to certain countries have been exhausted, while over 90 percent of the quotas for some steel products have been used up. Meanwhile, some quotas such as 933,743 mt for non-alloy and alloy HRC, 42,785 mt for organic coated sheets and 20,016 mt for other welded pipes allocated to other countries, 31,677 mt for stainless bars and light sections and 5,870 mt for seamless stainless tube for India, and the 8,058 mt quota for other welded pipes for China have been exceeded.

South Korea has exhausted 100 percent of its 186,030 mt quota for non-alloy and alloy HRC, 92.51 percent of its 37,457 mt quota for metallic coated sheets (4A), 90.54 percent of its 70,904 mt quota for organic coated sheets, 89.23 percent of its 94,425 mt quota for non-alloy and alloy CRC, and 87.56 percent of its 166,115 mt quota for metallic coated sheets (4B). 

China has exhausted its 127,995 mt quota for metallic coated sheets (4B), its 38,318 mt quota for other seamless pipes, and its 30,884 mt quota for electrical sheets (3B). The country has used up 99.94 percent of its 110,725 mt quota for tin mill products and 99.66 percent of its 140,020 mt quota for merchant bars and light sections. 

Regarding India, its 78,454 mt quota for organic coated sheets has been exhausted, while 99.82 percent of the country’s 7,367 mt quota for stainless wire rod and 98.45 percent of its 2,082 mt quota for stainless hot rolled quarto plates have been used up.     

Turkey has exhausted its 98,207 mt quota for hollow sections and its 1,553 mt quota for railway materials, while the country has used up 94.92 percent of its 20,792 mt quota for stainless cold rolled sheets and strips, and 93.18 percent of its 49,346 mt quota for gas pipes. 

The 67,361 mt quota for angles and sections, the 11,087 mt quota for gas pipes and the 5,140 mt quota for stainless bars and light sections allocated to other countries have been exhausted, while 99.73 percent of the 121,207 mt quota for non-alloy and other alloy wire rod, 94.92 percent of the 37,042 mt quota for tin mill products and 90.32 percent of the 471,221 mt quota for metallic coated sheets (4A), all allocated to other countries, have been used up. 

In addition, 96.52 percent of the 35,293 mt quota for metallic coated sheets (4A) for the UK, and 98.60 percent of the 22,724 mt quota for organic coated sheets for Taiwan have been exhausted.
