General Steel acquired by Houston-based Triple-S Steel

On Monday, Macon, Georgia-based service center General Steel Inc. announced that it has been acquired by Houston, Texas-based service center Triple-S Steel Holdings. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

With locations in Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Utah, Colorado, California, as well as Colombia and Chile, Triple-S stocks merchant bars, sheet and strip, pipe and tube, as well as steel plate products, complementary products to those handled by General Steel. This is Triple-S' first expansion into the southeast. Henry Oliner, president of General Steel, will remain with the company but will now serve as senior vice president of Triple-S Steel of Georgia.
