Germany's passenger car output down 18.2 percent in May from April

In May this year, new passenger car registrations in the German market totaled 286,900 units, down 9.2 percent month on month and increasing by 12 percent year on year, according to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). Meanwhile, in the first five months of this year, Germany's new passenger car registrations increased by seven percent year on year, totaling 1,394,200 units.
 
According to the VDA, in May of the current year 450,300 passenger cars rolled off production lines in Germany, which represents a month-on-month decrease of 18.2 percent and a year-on-year rise of one percent. German passenger car output in the January-May period of this year amounted to 2,469,700 units, showing a three percent growth compared to the same period of last year.
 
In May this year, a total of 350,000 passenger cars were exported from Germany, down by 16 percent month on month and increasing by three percent compared to May last year. In the first five months of the current year, German passenger car exports amounted to 1,873,700 units, up by one percent year on year.
