New car registrations in Germany up 25 percent in June

In June this year, new passenger car registrations in Germany rose by 25.0 percent to 280,139 units compared to the same month of 2022, according to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). Meanwhile, in the first half of this year, new passenger car registrations moved up by 13.0 percent year on year to 1,396,870 units.

According to the VDA, in June new registrations of electric vehicles increased by 18.0 percent year on year to 68,960 units. In the January-June period this year, new registrations of electric vehicles amounted to 299,473 units, moving down by two percent year on year.

In June, German passenger car manufacturers produced 389,900 units, up 31.0 percent compared to June 2022. In the first six months of the year, passenger car manufacturers produced 2,232,600 units, up 32.0 percent from the same period of last year.
