Global DRI output up one percent in April from March

According to the data released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global direct reduced iron (DRI) production in the 14 countries accounting for approximately 87 percent of total world DRI production in 2013 amounted to 4.3 million metric tons in April this year, decreasing by 9.5 percent year on year and up one percent month on month. 
 
Meanwhile, world DRI output came to 17.2 million metric tons in the January-April period of this year, decreasing by 15.7 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2015.
 
The worldsteel data show that Iran was the largest DRI producer among the countries surveyed in April this year. Iran’s DRI output was 1.42 million metric tons in the given month. Iran was followed by India, Saudi Arabia and Mexico in April, with estimated outputs of 1.18 million mt, 405,000 mt and 335,000 mt respectively.
