IISI issues DRI production for June and H1 of 2008

The International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI) has issued the global DRI production figures for June and for first half year of 2008.

Accordingly, during June 2008 total worldwide DRI production amounted to an estimated 5.018 million mt, including 76,000 mt produced by Canada, 580,000 mt produced by Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago with 280,000 mt, Argentina with 116,000 mt, Brazil with 35,000 mt, Peru with 8,000 mt, Venezuela with 690,000 mt, Libya with 175,000 mt, South Africa with 136,000 mt, Iran with 594,000 mt, Qatar with 160,000 mt, Saudi Arabia with 365,000 mt, and India which produced 1.65 million mt.

In the first six months of 2008, worldwide DRI production totaled an estimated 29.328 million mt. During the period in question, the top five producers of DRI were India with 9.75 million mt, Venezuela with 3.99 million mt, Iran with 3.549 million mt, Mexico with 3.175 million mt and Saudi Arabia with 2.315 million mt.
