Hormozgan Steel to commission new steel plant in early 2010

"Hormozgan Steel's steelmaking plant will be put into operation before the end of the current Iranian year (ends March 20, 2010)," Alireza Khayat, managing director of Iranian steelmaker Hormozgan Steel, has declared.

Mr. Khayat added that, having commissioned their direct reduced iron making plant a few months ago, about 86 percent of construction work on the company's new steelmaking plant has already been completed." The new steel plant will have a capacity of 1.5 million mt per year.
 
Located in the southern Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan Steel currently has an annual crude steel capacity of 1.5 million mt.
