In the first three months of the current fiscal year (started April 1), Indian motor vehicle production (including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, three wheelers and two wheelers) increased by 1.57 percent year on year to 5,750,518 units, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
In the three months in question, passenger vehicle sales in India increased by 6.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year, while the country's commercial vehicles segment registered a growth of 3.55 percent in sales, both on year-on-year basis.
In the April-June period this year, India's total motor vehicle exports increased by 9.22 percent year on year. In the given period, passenger vehicle exports registered a year-on-year decrease of 0.75 percent, while commercial vehicle exports increased by 26 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
