In the first four months of the current fiscal year (started April 1), Indian motor vehicle production (including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, three wheelers and two wheelers) increased by 1.8 percent year on year to 7,799,546 units, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
In the April-July period, passenger vehicle sales in India increased by 7.46 percent compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year, while the country's commercial vehicles segment registered a year-on-year growth of 5.63 percent in sales.
In the first four months in question, India's total motor vehicle exports increased by 8.59 percent year on year. In the given period, passenger vehicle exports registered a year-on-year growth of 2.94 percent, while commercial vehicle exports increased by 24.37 percent year on year.
