India’s coking coal import traffic up 3.21 percent in April-May

India’s coking coal import traffic through all major ports in the country has been provisionally estimated at 10.29 million mt in the April-May period of the fiscal year 2024-25, up 3.21 percent year on year, according to data sourced from the Indian Ports Association (IPA) on Wednesday, June 5.

According to calculations of SteelOrbis, total coking coal import traffic during May worked out at 5.26 million mt, compared to 5 million mt shipped in April.

Total iron ore freight traffic during the April-May period of 2024-25 including pellets has been provisionally estimated at 8.78 million mt, a decline of 8.48 percent over the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
