India’s mineral output up seven percent in March

Indian mineral production recorded a growth of 6.8 percent in March this year over the corresponding month of the previous year, a ministry of mines statement said on Friday, May 19.

Cumulative growth in mineral output in the April-March period of the fiscal year 2022-23 was recorded at 5.8 percent year on year, the statement said.

Important minerals that showed positive growth in March were copper concentrate 41.9 percent, chromite 34 percent phosphorite 32.8 percent, manganese ore 13.6 percent, coal 12.5 percent, limestone 7.6 percent, lead concentrate 6.3 percent, iron ore 4.7 percent, bauxite 3.6 per cent and natural gas 2.7 percent.
