Ukrainian steel pipe and railway wheel producer Interpipe has announced that it has invested $16.2 million to develop its railway product manufacturing facilities, including the expansion of the capacities in finish machining of railway wheels, a new production facility for finish-machined axles and wheel sets for freight transport and on-site assembling of wheel sets.

According to Interpipe, this modernization will enable the company to boost its export volumes and enter new market segments, namely wheels for high-speed rail and wheel sets for freight wagons. In addition, new capacities for finish machining of railway wheels will allow the company to increase wheel production volumes for export markets, primarily the American and Middle Eastern markets, from 33,000 mt to 49,000 mt per year. The new site has been designed in line with the requirements of the Association of American Railroads (AAR).
