Italy’s long steel exports to non-EU countries up 52 percent in H1

According to the Italian iron and steel association Federacciai, in the first half of the current year Italy's long steel exports increased by 17.9 percent year on year to 2.11 million mt.

In the given period, Italy's long steel exports to European Union (EU) countries amounted to 1.061 million mt, down 3.7 percent, while long steel exports to non-EU countries were up 52.6 percent to 1.047 million mt, both year on year. Meanwhile, the preliminary figure for Italy's long steel exports to non-EU destinations for the January-July period of the current year, has indicated an acceleration, with the volume up 53.9 percent year on year to 1.222 million mt.

As regards Italy's long steel imports, in the first six months of the current year imports from EU countries were down 22.4 percent to 758,000 mt, while imports from non-EU sources decreased by 41.3 percent to 227,000 mt, both year on year.
