According to the statistics released by the Italian steel producers' association Federacciai, in the first seven months of 2011 Italy's steel imports from non-EU countries reached 6.23 million metric tons, increasing by 28.7 percent year on year, while its steel exports to non-EU countries totaled 2.83 million metric tons, down 7.7 percent year on year.
