In July this year, Japanese crude steel production was up 2.1 percent compared to the previous month and decreased 4.3 percent compared to July last year, totaling 8.58 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
Meanwhile, in July of the current year Japan's pig iron production totaled 6.53 million metric tons, rising by 4.5 percent compared to the previous month and falling 6.9 percent year on year.
In the first seven months of this year, the country's pig iron output stood at 45.7 million metric tons, down 2.8 percent, while its crude steel production came to 60.9 million metric tons, falling 0.2 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
