Japan’s ferroalloy imports increase in August

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's ferroalloy imports totaled 185,881 metric tons in August this year, increasing by 21.3 percent month on month and up 16.1 percent compared to August 2011.

Meanwhile, in the first eight months of 2012, Japan's ferroalloy imports amounted to 1.16 million metric tons, decreasing by 3.1 percent year on year.

In August, Japan's ferroalloy imports from South Africa rose slightly by 0.3 percent compared to the same month last year to 47,644 metric tons, while China exported 30,755 mt of ferroalloy to Japan in August this year, up 12.1 percent year on year. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan's ferroalloy exports to Japan in August this year fell by 5.4 percent year on year to 29,985 mt.
