According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's stainless flat steel exports totaled 71,283 metric tons in June this year, rising by 12.9 percent month on month and down 8.7 percent compared to June 2011.
In the first half of the current year, Japan's stainless flat steel exports amounted to 406,203 metric tons, falling by 14.2 percent year on year.
In the first half of the year, Japanese stainless flat steel exports to China totaled 96,214 metric tons, while exports to South Korea amounted to 91,319 metric tons, decreasing by 15.2 percent and 8.8 percent respectively, both compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. In the January-June period of the year, the country's stainless flat steel exports to Taiwan totaled 52,015 mt, down 17.7 percent, exports to Thailand amounted to 47,511 mt, rising 5.6 percent, while stainless flat steel exports to the US came to 16,625 mt, down 15.1 percent, all on year-on-year basis.
Meanwhile, Japanese stainless flat steel imports in the first six months of the year amounted to 71,082 metric tons, falling by 8.7 percent year on year.
