Kardemir posts improved profit for 2011

In 2011, Turkish integrated long steel producer Kardemir Karabuk Demir Celik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. (Kardemir) posted a consolidated profit of TRY 185.19 million ($104.4 million), compared to a consolidated profit of TRY 21.08 million recorded in 2010.
 
In the given period, Kardemir's sales revenues increased 57.2 percent year on year to TRY 1.58 billion ($894.3 million).

In 2011, Kardemir produced 734,000 mt of metallurgical coke - up 2.6 percent, 1.3 million mt of crude steel - up 20.4 percent, and 103,772 mt of pig iron - up 121 percent, all compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, in the period in question, the company's billet output totaled 1 million mt, increasing by 20.4 percent, while its bloom output amounted to 360,460 mt, rising by 20.7 percent, both compared to 2010.

During 2011, Kardemir's rebar output increased by 10.3 percent to 593,827 mt, its section production increased by 74 percent to 132,305 mt, while its rail product output totaled 95,233 mt - up 1.6 percent, all compared to the previous year.
