In January-September this year, Turkish integrated long steel producer Kardemir Karabuk Demir Celik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. (Kardemir) posted a consolidated profit of TRY 180.4 million ($101.09 million), compared to a profit of TRY 36.06 million recorded in the same period of 2010.
In the given period, Kardemir's sales revenues increased 58.8 percent year on year to TRY 1.16 billion ($650.8 million).
In the first nine months of the current year, Kardemir produced 550,800 mt of metallurgical coke - up 2.6 percent, 1.01 million mt of crude steel - up 18.5 percent, and 65,081 mt of pig iron - up 81.3 percent, all compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Meanwhile, in the period in question, the company's billet output totaled 734,973 mt, increasing by 18.3 percent, while its bloom output amounted to 253,276 mt, rising by 19.3 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2010.
In the January-September period of this year, Kardemir's rebar output increased by 10.8 percent to 431,361 mt, its section production increased by 66.8 percent to 98,048 mt, while its rail product output totaled 82,324 mt - up 11.4 percent, all compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
