The international steel and minerals group Liberty House has stated that it will make a bid for India-based Tata Steel Limited’s UK plants, including its plant in Port Talbot, Wales and its specialty steels business in Yorkshire, according to media sources. On March 30 this year, Tata Steel announced its decision to sell its UK operations, which employ 11,000 people, due to the deteriorated trading conditions in the UK

Meanwhile, Liberty House has announced that it has completed its acquisition of the former Tata Steel plate plants at Dalzell and Clydebridge in Lanarkshire, Scotland. The deal involved a back-to-back transaction in which the Scottish government acquired the two plants from Tata Steel and immediately sold them to Liberty House.
