Metinvest’s Ilyich completes overhaul of sintering machine No. 4

Ukrainian mining and steel producing group Metinvest has announced that its subsidiary Ilyich Iron & Steel Works of Mariupol has completed the overhaul of its sintering machine No. 4, which has an annual capacity of one million mt, as part of its program for environment protection and improvement in Mariupol for the 2012-2020 period .
 
With the overhaul, the consumption of natural gas during the heating and sintering progresses is reduced by 10 percent. 
 
Metinvest stated that the replacement of gas cleaning equipment on sintering machine No. 5 will be the next phase of the sinter plant reconstruction. In 2015, similar major overhauls were completed for sintering machines Nos. 1-3 at the company. The total cost for the overhauls of all of the sintering machines is estimated to be $220 million.
