Makiivka Steel, a subsidiary of the Ukrainian mining and steel producing group Metinvest, has applied new technology for rolling rebar of 12 mm diameter in four strands at its longs rolling mill 390, which will allow it to increase the mill's production capacity by more than 15 percent. The test output batch amounted to 4,000 mt.

The cost of additional equipment for four-strand rolling of rebar amounted to UAH 8 million (about $1 million).

Makiivka Steel's mill 390 has a designed capacity of 720,000 mt of products per year. Since its commissioning in July 2008 up to the end of 2010, the plant's investments in additional equipment for the mill's modernization will amount to almost UAH 23 million (about $2.9 million).
