Mexico’s AHMSA posts $34.6 million net loss in Q1

Mexico’s largest integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) posted an increased net loss in Q1, which went from MXN 584.3 million ($34 million) in Q1 2015 to MXN 595.4 million ($34.6 million) in Q1 this year, the company said while releasing its quarterly results.

The company’s revenues in Q1 declined 11.3 percent, year-on-year, to nearly MXN 10 billion, from MXN 11.2 billion in the same quarter of the year prior.

Steel sales volumes slightly improved 0.5 percent in Q1, year-on-year, from 985,854 mt in Q1 2015 to 990,653 mt this year.

EBITDA was MXN 542.5 million in Q1, 7.9 percent down, year-on-year.
