Mexico’s AHMSA posts $42.9 million net loss in Q2

Steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) posted a MXN 807.9 ($42.9 million) net loss in Q2, the company said late last week while releasing its quarterly results.

The MXN 807.9 million net loss was lower when compared to the MXN 1.2 billion net loss reported in the same quarter of the year prior.

AHMSA said revenues in Q2 rose 15.2 percent, year-on-year, to MXN 11.8 billion, while sales volumes in the same period rose 15.4 percent, year-on-year.

The Mexican steelmaker said EBITDA in Q2 was MXN 1.2 billion in local currency and $67.5 million in the US currency, up from a negative EBITDA of MXN 294 million in the same period of 2015, and negative EBITDA in USD of $19.1 million.
