Mexico's automotive trade flow hits new all-time high in October

Mexico's trade flow with the world in the automotive industry registered an increase of 0.4 percent in October, year-over-year, to $26.2 billion. That figure is a new all-time high, according to a SteelOrbis analysis of data from the national statistics agency Inegi.

Exports related to the automotive industry installed in Mexico (light vehicles, heavy vehicles and auto parts) totaled $18.74 billion, 3.4 percent more than in October of last year. The value of imports totaled $7.50 billion, down 6.4 percent year on year.

In the January-October period, the value of automotive industry exports totaled $164.0 billion and imports totaled $72.84 billion, figures that represent increases of 1.0 and 3.0 percent respectively, compared to the same period in 2023. Trade flow was $236.8 billion, 1.6 percent or $3.7 billion more than compared to January-October period last year.

In October, the trade surplus was $11.2 billion, 11.1 percent more, year-over-year, and the accumulated total was $91.2 billion, 0.5 percent less than the January-October period of last year.
