MMK’s long product division output hits 6 million mt

Russian steel mill Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that its long product division (LPD) has produced six million mt of long steel products since it completed the modernization of its production facilities in 2005-2006.

MMK's LPD includes three state-of-the art mills: the wire rod mill 170 with a capacity of 765,000 mt per year, the bar and light section mill 370 with a capacity of 585,000 mt per year, and the medium section mill 450 with a capacity of 790,000 mt per year. The mills were supplied by the Italian plantmaker Danieli and have an annual combined production capacity of more than two million mt of long products.  

In January 2007 the total output of MMK's new long product mills amounted to two million mt, by February 2008 cumulative output amounted to four million mt, reaching five million mt of long steel products in autumn 2008.
