On January 21, China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) announced that during last week (January 13-19) the overall average finished steel price in China decreased by 0.2 percent week on week.
In the given week, the average prices of 12 mm rebar, 6.5 mm high-speed wire rod and 145 mm x 2.5 mm hot rolled strip were all down 0.3 percent week on week.
In the week ending January 19, the average price of minerals in China remained stable compared to the previous week. In particular, the average prices of antimony ore, copper ore and zinc ore were up 2.3 percent, 0.2 percent, 0.1 percent respectively, while the average price of iron ore remained stable.
In the given week, the average price of non-ferrous metals in China was down 0.6 percent compared to the previous week. The average price of nickel (Ni >= 99.2%) was up 3.9 percent week on week.
In addition, in the week in question the average price of energy in China was down 1.6 percent week on week. The average prices of brown coal, bituminous coal and anthracite coal were down 3.1 percent, 1.8 percent and 1.5 percent respectively, all week on week.
